A High Availability (HA) cluster consists of two servers which are connected together by two network cables.
- A HA cluster has one LAN IP address, which is shared between both servers
- A HA cluster has one WAN IP address, which is shared between both servers
- Each server in the cluster needs a unique IP address for the iLO ports.
how to cable up a HA cluster:
- The port labelled CL1 should be connected to the other servers port labelled CL1, using a 0.25 metre network cable
- The port labelled CL2 should be connected to the other servers port labelled CL2, a 0.25 metre network cable
- The ports labelled WAN on both servers should be connected into the network device providing the WAN connectivity (typically a router/firewall/modem/switch)
- The ports labelled iLO on both servers should be connected into the network device providing the iLO network connectivity (typically a router/firewall/modem/switch)
- After installation, the ports labelled LAN should be connected into your new or existing LAN network (typically a switch)
- During installation only, The LAN port of one of the servers needs to be connected to the port labelled 3 on the other server. This is a temporary measure, only for the installation
- During installation only, the unused LAN port needs to be connected to your computer so you can access the Installation Console
